Islam as religion

Todays presentation, from Angelica and Justien, about Islam as Religion, really cought my attention. They discussed about the goods and the bads about Islam. First of all I want to say is the "People believe what they want to believe. Personally, It is not a bad thing at all to believe something that will lead you to better live, like believing in religion. There are many moral lessons that we learn from religion. For instance, we are taught not to steal, not to envy, not to kill, and so many others. Those moral lessons are the sources which will help us to have better personalities and better behaviors. However, there are some false understanding about the doctrines, which are taught by the dumb priests. From what I found from my live, back to Indonesia, I knew one of the Islam dumb priests. He was one of my Mother's employees. He never go to school since he was a kid. He is unable to write and to read. Due to his lacks of education, He always gets difficulties to understand what other people are saying. However, he can become an Islamic priest and has four wives. How can such a person can become a priest? How will he interpret the Quran while he always gets difficulties to communicate? No wonder there are people who kill others because of false doctrines, just like Amrozi, Imam Samudra, who bombed Bali. They don't feel guilty and think that what they had done are right. All I can say is what a person they are. Again, believe in religion is an important and good thing to do. But, we should not be too fanatic and too extreme, which will lead us to do such dumb things.

Persepolis Blogging

The first thing I want to say about this book is that this book is incredible. Personally, I hate reading so much that I do not feel like to read it for a very long time. However, Persepolis really grabbed my attention and I can finish reading it by one night. This book is very easy to read and to follow. More, today's movie also helped me to understand about the story more. I felt really bad about Ninva and Rosita when they told their bad experiences back to their Islam country. Just like Marjane, they don't seem to like to wear the veil and because of their small mistakes, they got the punishment. What's the big deal of not covering their hair with the veil? I think it's very rediculous. I think I'm going to do well on this assignment because my country also an Islamic country, Indonesia, and I know how it feels to live under non-sense Islamic laws. I know a lot about them and I am totally against them
